Cheryl Haworth Unwinds with Artwork

While Cheryl Haworth is incredibly accomplished when it comes to weightlifting, her accomplishments in the art world are equally impressive.

Cheryl, who holds a B.F.A. in Historic Preservation from the Savannah College of Art and Design, spends a good deal of time focusing on her artwork when she isn’t busy training.

Haworth says, “Its really calming and its something that’s very different from weightlifting. I have a tremendous amount of control over my artwork – its something you can manipulate and get the result you want every time – its very satisfying.”

Cheryl has known for quite a while that she had some natural artistic ability. “I remember my mom got me a little finger paint set when I was 3 or 4. I remember her being impressed with stuff I was doing then in terms of things that others my age didn’t normally grasp. I remember my kindergarden teacher saying I was going to be an artist and that definitely left a lasting impression.”

The above portrait is of one of Cheryl’s teammates and best friends, Cara Heads.
