Bleiler Tops in Qualifying
Hometown favorite Gretchen Bleiler had the best qualifying score in Thursday’s women’s superpipe elimination round at the Winter X Games, topping the field of 18 with a 92.66 out of 100.
Defending champion Torah Bright of Australia was second with a 91.66, followed by Kelly Clark of Mount Snow, Vt., in third with a 90.
Four of the six riders who advanced to Friday night’s final have won the event before.
Bleiler won pipe titles in 2003 and 2005 while fifth-place finisher Hannah Teter of Belmont, Vt., — who scored a 71.66 — won in 2005. Clark took gold in 2006 and Bright bested Bleiler last year with a 94.66 second run.
