Kintner Could Solidify Olympic Spot at BMX Championships
The USA Cycling BMX National Championships in DeSoto, Texas, this weekend could help clarify which American riders will represent their country at the Beijing Olympics. The USA could qualify as many as three men and two women for the first BMX Olympic competition.
Top-ranked men Kyle Bennett, Donny Robinson and Mike Day are scheduled to take part, as are 2007 women’s world champion mountain biker Jill Kintner and Arielle Martin.
The male and female riders with the highest individual UCI cycling federation ranking after the May 30-June 1 world championships in Taiyuan, China, will earn USA Cycling’s sole automatic nominations.
