Kintner Wins National Championship

Jill Kintner claimed the women’s titles on Saturday in the USA Cycling BMX National Championships.

Kintner is trying to clinch automatic nominations to the Olympic team, and Saturday’s victories added eight points to her existing leads in the national points rankings.

A former world junior BMX champion, Kintner returned to BMX racing fulltime after successfully defending her World 4X title last September. She holds more than 70 career wins as a BMX racer and has steadily collected the valuable points that will determine an Olympic nomination since she returned to the sport.

Before Saturday’s race, only one point separated Kintner from second place rival Arielle Martin in the USA Cycling BMX Rankings. Martin’s runner-up finish at nationals earned her seven points, which puts her only two points behind Kintner in the race for a spot on the Olympic team.
