Shaun White, Louie Vito, Gretchen Bleiler and crew in Mammoth this weekend for Snowboarding Grand-Prix

Attention snowboarding fans: The Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix rolls into Mammoth this weekend for two major halfpipe competitions. Not only will the athletes be flying high, they’ll be gunning for Olympic spots for the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

Mammoth has three different-sized halfpipes, but their 22-foot super pipe will be the main attraction. Look for 2006 Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who won the first Grand Prix event this season with a double double-corked run, and Dancing With the Stars alum Louie Vito. Mammoth snowboarders Greg Bretz and Luke Mitrani will also be going for gold, along with Zach Black, of Breckenridge, CO. Black placed third at the Copper Grand Prix.

On the women’s side, look out for Kelly Clark, the top halfpipe rider on the U.S. Team. Aspen’s Gretchen Bleiler and reigning Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter will also be on hand to claim their U.S. Olympic Team spots.

Elena Hight, Ellery Hollingsworth and U.S. Snowboarding rookie Maddy Schaffrick will also be competing.

The Mammoth action starts Jan. 5. and runs through the 10th. Be there to cheer on the future U.S. Team Olympians!
