It’s Easy Being Green

At S&Co, we like to think we’re fairly well versed in the juice cleanse game. After all, Amy—a sworn advocate of green juice—cleanses once a month. Ask anyone in the office and they’ll tell you the benefits Amy swears by: More energy! Detox! On the third day you hit nirvana!

This time around, we all jumped on board, with high hopes to come away feeling a little lighter, a little healthier and completely refreshed.

So, how did we fare?

Amy, “BYOJC”—Bring your own juice cleanse:

Best part about juicing:

I feel amazing after the second day…tons of energy, clarity, my body feels like it’s working better.

Hardest Part about juicing:

Losing the social life for three days! It’s painful not going out for dinner and drinks with friends. The good news is that it forces you to be creative and come up with non-eating/drinking social plans.

Advice you’d give to new juicers:

Stick it out. You can do it. It’s worth it!

The overall experience/takeaway from the juicing guru:

For me the cleanse is a great reset – it helps me get back on my generally healthy track. I also think it’s healthy to deprive yourself of things every now and again…to prove that you can live without them!

Jody–Juice Served Here’s Soft Cleanse

Best part about juicing:

It feels good to do something healthy for your body, and you can feel an element of cleansing happen almost immediately. It’s also great to sort of reset your diet and feel motivated to eat healthy after the cleanse.

Hardest Part about juicing:

Getting through all of the juices, there is a lot to drink, especially when you are supposed to be able to drink a lot of water too. And of course, carefully adjusting your social life so that you are not tempted to cheat …

Advice you’d give to new juicers:

It’s really not that difficult, but I recommend avoiding any dinners out or plans in the evening that may tempt you to break the cleanse.

The overall experience/takeaway from a juice newbie:

Overall, it was a great experience and I would do it again … without question!

Leah, Juice Served Here’s Semi Cleanse

Best part about juicing:

Pros include feeling refreshed and skinny. Losing water weight is key

Hardest Part about juicing:

Being social while on a juice cleanse is really hard.

Advice you’d give to new juicers:

Drink lots of water – because you are drinking juice all day you would think you are getting plenty of fluids but in fact you still need to stay hydrated.

The overall experience/takeaway from a semi-experienced juicer:

I love it! Would do it all over again.

Amanda, Juice Served Here’s Soft Cleanse

Best part about juicing:

Juicing is a great way to get back on track when you’ve fallen off the healthy eating wagon. I had just returned from a family vacation in Texas where I let myself indulge a little too much, if you know what I mean. So having juicing as a gateway back to my normal routine has been a definite plus.

Hardest Part about juicing:

Smelling food. I wouldn’t think twice about eating until someone in the office would microwave lunch or I’d walk past a restaurant. It definitely kicked in some cravings!

Advice you’d give to new juicers:

Find a juice buddy! It’s so much easier to have someone help motivate you and keep you on track. When you go it solo, you don’t have anyone but yourself to be accountable to.

The overall experience/takeaway from a juicing newbie:

Drink plenty of water in between juices. It helps keep you full, but it really reinforces how much I regularly neglect to stay hydrated during the work day. It’s all about taking care of yourself and starting to instill good habits you can use even when the juice cleanse ends.
