Superstars Kristi Leskinen, Maksim Chmerkovskiy prevail while Bode Miller, Terrell Owens survive
Week 3 of the Superstars was finally all about competition and less controversy. The events this week were the lagoon swim and basketball.
X games skier Kristi Leskinen and Maksim Chmerkovskiy of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars won the swimming event while the team of Brandi Chastain and Julio Iglesias Jr made an incredible comeback from last place to take second. NFL wide receiver Terrel Owens and model/actress Joanna Krupa finished last. Don’t you think Maks and Kristi would make good dance partners?
In the basketball event, WNBA star Lisa Leslie and actor David Charvet surprisingly finished second to last place. Their strategy of shooting the 4 and 5 point shots backfired. Soccer player Brandi and pop singer/model Julio won the event while skier Bode Miller and Paige Hemmis of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition took second place. Team Kristi & Maks finished last scoring only seven points.
Overall preliminary results for the two events were:
1st – Brandi Chastain & Julio Iglesias Jr.
2nd – Bode Miller & Paige Hemmis
3rd – Kristi Leskinen & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
4th – Terrell Owens & Joanna Krupa
5th – Jeff Kent & Ali Landry
6th – Lisa Leslie & David Charvet
This setup the rubber match between Bode & Paige and Kristi & Maks to determine who would avoid the dreaded obstacle course elimination event (the bottom 3 teams are automatically in the obstacle course). Both teams went head to head in the basketball event and Kristi & Maks won out by a score of 25 to 16.
In the obstacle course elimination event, team Terrell & Joanna and Bode & Paige won their respective heats avoiding elimination. The final elimination heat was won by team David & Leslie thus eliminating Major League Baseball star Jeff Kent and former Miss USA Ali Landry.
Skiers Kristi Leskinen and Bode Miller are doing well and last week’s prediction still stands. Kristi Leskinen and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will win the Superstars 2009. Watch out for Brandi and Julio though. They are a surprisingly strong contenders. And what do you think about Kristi being Maks’ partner on the next season of Dancing with The Stars? Leave your comments below and let’s see if we can make it happen.
