Winter X Games Europe Press Event from Tignes Watch Top Athletes Kickoff Winter X Games Europe on X Games Facebook Page

WHAT:
For the first time, the official press event prior to ESPN Winter X Games Europe, which will focus on athletes competing in the Snowboard and Skiing events, will be streamed from Tignes, France on the official X Games Facebook page. In addition to an elite panel of athletes, ESPN X Games Executive Director Jack Wienert, Tignes Director Sébastien Mérignargues and Canal+ Events Director Gael Chatelain will be on hand for any interview requests.

The press event will be streamed on the X Games Facebook page at www.facebook.com/xgames from the press center at Tignes Resort’s Hotel Diva.

WHO:
Eight of the top Winter X Games and Olympic athletes will be on hand to celebrate the start of Winter X Games Europe. The athletes available for one-on-one interviews include:

Xavier Bertoni (La Clusaz, France) – Bertoni became a Winter X Games sensation after upsetting SuperPipe favorites Tanner Hall and Simon Dumont to win gold at Winter X Games 13. In 2010, Bertoni went on to take home bronze at Winter X Games 14 and silver in the inaugural Winter X Games Europe event in front of a hometown crowd.

Gretchen Bleiler (Aspen, Colo.) – A two-time Winter Olympian and the 2006 Women’s Olympic Halfpipe silver medalist, Bleiler has more SuperPipe gold than any female in Winter X Games history (4). In her first Winter X Europe appearance, Bleiler will compete in Snowboard SuperPipe.

Bobby Brown (Breckenridge, Colo.) – The only skier to win two gold medals at the same Winter X Games event, Brown enjoyed a banner year in 2010. After winning Ski Big Air and Slopestyle gold at Winter X Games 14, Brown went on to win Ski Slopestyle silver at the inaugural Winter X Games Europe. Brown took home Ski Big Air silver at Winter X Games 15.

Sarah Burke (Whistler, BC, Canada) – A four-time gold medalist and back-to-back silver medalist, Burke reclaimed her spot atop the Ski SuperPipe podium at Winter X Games 15. An innovator in skiing progression, Sarah was the first woman to land a 720, 900 and 1080 in competition.

Mathieu Crepel(La Mongie, France) – The strongest French rider on the men’s SuperPipe roster, Crepel is the defending Winter X Games Europe Snowboard SuperPipe silver medalist.

Jenny Jones (Bristol, Great Britain) – The defending Winter X Games Europe Snowboard Slopestyle gold medalist, Jones added to her collection by earning Snowboard Slopestyle silver at Winter X Games 15. In the two previous Winter X Games events she won back-to-back Snowboard Slopestyle gold medals.

Kevin Rolland (La Plagne, France) – Currently the most dominant Ski SuperPipe athlete at Winter X Games, Rolland is the back-to-back and defending Winter X Games gold medalist. He continued his dominance at the inaugural Winter X Europe winning gold in front of a hometown crowd.

Sebastien Toutant (Montreal, QC, Canada) – In his rookie appearance at Winter X Games 15, Toutant became a star, winning Snowboard Slopestyle and earning silver in Snowboard Big Air. Toutant was named the Jeep Male Athlete of the Games.
