King Neptune Party Almost Here, ‘Fortytude’ Book Signing
As has been the climate for the past week or so, Wednesday is forecast to be cloudy in the morning, clearing to sunny skies in the afternoon, with highs nearing 70.
There are lots of things going on this week. Main Street, Santa Monica women’s clothing store hip’tique, will host Venice resident and Fortytude author Sarah Brokaw for a discussion and book signing from 6-9 p.m on Wednesday. The store, which opened in February and hosts music and events, is also offering 20 percent off all purchases made during that time.
Over at Walgrove Elementary, interested parents and community members are encouraged to attend an information session at 7 p.m. about the colocation of Green Dot’s charter middle school on the campus next fall.
It might only be midweek, but it’s not too early to get ready for the weekend! “The Windward Krewe” is planing a “spontaneous and humble reincarnation of a classic Venice tradition” – yep, the King Neptune Festival is back! Organizers say the king will come out of the ocean and onto Windward Avenue around 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. He expects to be joined by a bunch of revelers, so get out there and get gaudy! Costumes are encouraged, music will be played, and the look is being described as “Royal Mardi Gras Tiki Beach Roman Legionish…”
Finally, Venice Patch is just a scant few people away from 500 fans on our Facebook page! If you haven’t joined the crowd yet, now’s the time. Perhaps we can even arrange a special prize for that lucky 500th fan… Stay tuned! (Well, just “like” us, and we’ll let you know.)
