DISC Sports & Spine Center Debuts “Champion Care” Triathlete Sarah Haskins’ Journey on Her Road to London
DISC Sports & Spine Center (DISC), an official medical services provider of the U.S. Olympic Committee, today debuted the story of 2008 Olympic triathlete and London 2012 hopeful Sarah Haskins. The personal journey of Haskins on her road to the London Games includes an injury that nearly sabotaged her dream of representing Team USA in 2012. Haskins became a professional athlete in 2004, less than a year after competing in her first triathlon. After participating in the Beijing 2008 Games, Haskins set her sights on an even bigger outing at the London 2012 Games. What she thought was an ankle sprain that refused to heal nearly thwarted her plans, until she received a proper diagnosis. Minimally invasive surgery at DISC allowed her to resume her training and prepare for London.
DISC will roll out stories of its additional “Champion Care” athletes including track and field stars Jenny Adams, Brianna Glenn, Lolo Jones and Brad Walker, swimmers Jessica Hardy and Eric Shanteau, and BMX rider Mike Day. As part of its sponsorship of these athletes, DISC will continue to play a vital role in their success stories through a sponsorship featuring complimentary top-quality medical care-an immense benefit when premium health care costs are often exorbitant. Also, the “Champion Care” athletes will have access to an elite medical team, a range of integrated services and a world-class facility in which they can both recover and train. In addition, each athlete will receive a stipend to help cover training expenses.
