Steamboat Springs’ Maddy Schaffrick 3rd at Dew Tour

Steamboat Springs – Battling back from injury, Steamboat Springs snowboarder Maddy Schaffrick had one of her most impressive Dew Tour finishes of her young career Saturday.

#Schaffrick, who qualified in fourth place Friday, finished third Saturday. She registered a 71.75 on her first run, good enough for the podium finish.

#Kaitlyn Farrington won the event with an 90, and Queralt Castellet was second with an 80.

#Schaffrick, who was competing for the first time in 10 months, said Saturday’s finish reaffirmed her confidence.

#”It’s relieving,” she said. “It reminds me that I’m still in the game. It’s hard when you’re out so long. Negative thoughts can develop with anyone. It’s cool to come back. It reminded me I’m back.”

#Schaffrick is off for the holidays. She’ll return to action at a U.S. Grand Prix and World Cup event in January at Copper Mountain.
