Awesome Chick Becomes First Woman to Conquer American Ninja Warrior Course
If this doesn’t make you want to go directly to the gym, nothing will. This week, 5’0″, 100-pound Kacy Catanzaro completed NBC’s American Ninja Warrior course at the finals in Dallas. She is now the first woman to qualify for “Mt. Midoriyama,” a 70-foot steel structure that only top competitors are allowed to attempt.
A former gymnast at Towson University, 24-year-old Kacy was previously named NCAA Southeast Regional Gymnast of the Year, and was coached through this challenge by her boyfriend Ninja vet Brent Steffensen.
She told Esquire, “I wanted to prove to other women that they can do it, too. There’s such a stereotype about men and women. Obviously, people think men are faster and stronger and all these other things, and I don’t want people to get sucked into that anymore. I want them to realize that the women are out here and doing just as awesome things. They can be just as great, too.”
#MightyKacy indeed! We can’t wait to see her take on the next challenge. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be over in the free weights section of our local 24-Hour Fitness…
