From the Founder, May 2016
I’m thankful that May is here and Summer is around the corner. Seasons are changing, and it feels like a new beginning. Change is in the air. This month I’m thinking about new ideas, new perspectives and how shifting things can open up new energy and new opportunity. And, among a long list of my sources of inspiration, I invite you to check out a few worth noting:
Julie Foudy, soccer star extraordinaire, on-air talent for ESPN and so much more, has become a great personal friend thanks to our friends at espnW. I was fortunate enough to hear her speak this week and am always impressed by how smart, passionate, down to earth and generally lovely she is. And she is kicking ass! Check out her amazing leadership academy.
Max Lugavere is an up-and-coming expert in brain health. He’s working on a documentary about the brain and ways we can all proactively care for ours. We take such good care of our bodies in other ways… isn’t the brain most important?
Atticus the Poet – no clue where or how I found him but I love his words (mostly seen by me on Instagram, but I think he just published a book too).
Jill Willard happens to be a dear friend, but even if she weren’t, I would be reading up on her! At this point, hopefully we all (intuitively) know the power of intuition and we can continually improve our access to it. Check her out in Goop.
Wags & Walks – for those of you that know me well (or maybe not even that well!), you know I’m crazy about dogs and dog rescue. In the past six months I’ve been fortunate enough to find four dogs on the street (two times the same dog sadly) and return them to their owners. Lesley Brog, who runs Wags & Walks, does SO MUCH GOOD. If I haven’t already roped you in to an event, please check it out, donate, adopt, etc. And Betsy Rosenfeld (one of my oldest and dearest friends from college who actually introduced me to Lesley) recently started her own coaching practice… With Betsy
If you haven’t seen it, please check out this new #morethanmean PSA about how female sports reporters are treated on social media; it’s so powerful and scary, and I applaud the amazing Sarah Spain for being part of such an important campaign.
And, here are a few articles of note this month…the Mercury Retrograde post is especially important at the moment!
