S&Co’s Favorite Summer Essentials
For those of you who might not know, the S&Co offices are just two miles from the beach in Marina del Rey, and most of us live in nearby beach cities. So, as we prepare for summer, our team is excited to share our favorite summer essentials. From sunglasses and surf sprays to our favorite warm weather treats, we promise you’ll want to add at least one of these products to your shopping list.
Alafair Hall loves Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. It’s a salt spray that creates authentic beachy waves for those days you can’t make it out to the ocean, but still want that surfer look.
Amy Stanton is pretty sparing with sunscreen because of all of the toxins and potential harmful effects of using the highly chemical brands (most of them are). So she uses Coola, which is natural and full of great ingredients, plus, it smells delicious and is totally effective. She won’t go anywhere without it.
Crisanta White’s pick is Taliah Waajid Curl Sealer. It’s perfect to keep her curls moisturized through the dry weather!
Denege Prudhomme can’t live without her portable JBL bluetooth speaker. Whether she’s at the beach, a bbq, on bike rides, or on family trips, she always has music with her. That way, each memory made has a soundtrack of its own (think July evenings with Springsteen).
Jessica Hofmann never leaves the house without a pair of polarized sunglasses (her favs are these Ray-Bans). She thinks most people remember to protect their skin but always forget about their eyes; and polarized sunglasses help protect against the harmful effects of UV light as well as neutralizing glare, which helps you see more clearly.
Jill Coy is a stickler for the perfect beach towel, and has found it with Australian-made Sunnylife. Their luxe towels are brightly colored, made with high-quality, velour-finished fabrics and are oversized, so you’ll never be in danger of sand sticking to places you don’t want it. The brand also makes everything from umbrellas and candles, to ice trays and picnic essentials.
Jody Sowa would rather skip the products, and pick up a chilled bottle of rosé and an old football when she hits the beach. We’re big fans of rosé at S&Co; this summer, grab a bottle of our long-time favorite Whispering Angel, or for something new, try the estate’s latest release: Rock Angel.
Kara Froula swears by SunTegrity’s 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen. It’s tinted, SPF 30 and is an all-in-one, UV chemical-free sunscreen and BB cream that treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers the skin. SunTegrity’s products are also free of all those scary ingredients like parabens, sulfates and synthetic dyes; and all their products are cruelty-free.
Nicole Callas says her summer essential is the St. Tropez in-shower gradual tanner, which helps you get tan without any fuss – no airbrushing or dry time. A golden tan develops over eight hours, and it gets darker with daily use.
Tatum Marshall can’t live without ice cream! You’ll find her at the beloved scoop shop, Salt & Straw in Venice. She loves it because their flavors are always fun and interesting and they collaborate with local partners to create new flavors often, like honey lavender and chocolate gooey brownie.
Another favorite we all love is Caliwater Cactus Water, now in three great flavors. Caliwater is made from prickly pear cactus puree (the only superfruit with all 24 of the betalain antioxidants) which are great for keeping skin hydrated and healthy during the dry hot summer days. (Plus the added prickly pear extract helps with hangovers!)
