Happy June!

This is my birthday month so naturally I’m a fan of June (and birthdays in general).

With summer starting, everyone is on the hunt for the latest and greatest fitness and health hacks and as always, I’m grateful that our work makes checking all of these things out a part of the job!

We tried cryotherapy for the first time this week at the lovely Coast Cryo right around the corner from our offices in Marina del Rey. From their website, here’s the description and the list of benefits:

Cryotherapy is the use of extremely low temperatures to address a variety of health issues from joint pain to muscle soreness, weight loss to skin problems and overall wellness. Employing the use of chambers that emit cold, dry air to the skin’s tissues, cryotherapy works through a process of vasoconstriction and vasodilation. As the body is exposed to these cold temperatures and the peripheral tissues send blood to the core to protect the body’s internal temperature, the blood is cleansed of toxins and supplied with fresh oxygen, enzymes, and nutrients. After a cryotherapy session ends, tissues and organs are replenished with this nutrient-rich blood and participants immediately feel revitalized, with further restorative benefits occurring hours later. Additional cumulative benefits are achieved after several months of treatment.

Denege, Jody and I had a great experience and I’m going back for more as I’m eager to see the benefits of consistent use. Considering how often my body feels beat up from a workout, this seems like a great addition to the regimen. Anything that can help reduce inflammation consistently is a good thing.

We had a Stanton & Co team outing at BoxUnion this week too (which is why I need another cryotheraphy session). This is a new, fun, upbeat boxing class in Santa Monica – it was a great atmosphere and a solid workout. It feels like the SoulCycle of Boxing! Check it out!

And another new obsession this month is celery juice. Who knew that celery is the unsung hero of the vegetable group. While I haven’t done my own celery juicing each morning, I’ve been drinking it as part of a fresh apple, ginger, celery concoction and loving it.

Use the beginning of summer as an excuse to try new things and be your healthiest self (not that you need an excuse) and ENJOY!

xx
