S&Co Summer Events Guide

With summer in full swing, we are rushing to find fun activities and events to go to. Whether you’re looking for a fitness, health and wellness, or food event, the Stanton & Company interns have you covered. We’ve listed all of our favorite summer events below in this year’s S&Co Summer Event Guide. We hope you check out some of these one-of-a-kind events!

FITNESS

Box Union

Box Union recently opened in Santa Monica and its classes are already filling up daily! According to Box Union’s website, every detail of the studio is designed to maximize your workout. State of the art heavy bags are filled with water and high density foam to protect the hands and joints as you crush your training. The S&Co team tried it last month and it was a fun, sweaty way to de-stress after a long day at the office!

Kid’s Obstacle Challenge

This event is perfect if you are looking for something to do with your kids while they are on summer break! On July 8th, Kid’s Obstacle Challenge will be hosting their annual event in South El Monte. For $46, children ages 5-16 can participate in this fun and challenging obstacle course. Better yet, parents run for FREE!

Wonder Women Unite

S&Co fully supports events that provide opportunities for women to make connections while getting their sweat on! Wonder Women Unite (WWU) is a 4-hour women’s mini-retreat designed especially for busy women needing time and space to connect with other compassionate and strong women. The retreat is on July 15 and will run from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

San Clemente Ocean Festival

From July 15th to 16th, this event will feature a stand-up paddleboard championship, beach run, rubber duck race, Woody car exhibit and sand-sculpting competition. Prices vary.

International Surf Festival

The 56th annual event held on August 3rd to 6th in Hermosa promotes lifeguard service and physical fitness with competitions that include a lifeguard medley relay, volleyball and sand soccer matches, surfing and bodysurfing contests.

Amy Ippoliti Yoga

Amy Ippoliti will be hosting numerous events throughout the summer across the country. Click on the title to find out if she’ll be in a city near you!

Liz Arch Yoga Classes

Even though Liz teaches throughout the year, we included her because she is constantly switching up her practice to make each class enjoyable and refreshing. You can find her at both Yogaraj and Yoga Salt at various times during the week.

FOOD

2017 Summer Vendor Fair

Mark your calendars for July 1st because you won’t want to miss this! Located in Orange County, get local favorites as well as unique products from all around the world. Better yet, attendance is FREE!

Long Beach Vegan Festival

On July 8th, drive to Long Beach for a full-day event filled with delicious vegan food and treats, live music, and a vegan chili cook off, all for $17!

California Wine Festival

One of the state’s largest outdoor wine festivals, the California Wine Festival held in Long Beach from July 13th to 15th features regional microbreweries, bites from top local chefs, and other food purveyors and vendor. Prices vary.

Orange County Fair

From July 14th to August 13th, come to the ninth largest fair in the country for competitive exhibits, carnival rides, shopping, food and concerts. Better yet, admission is FREE!

Taste of Summer

This exclusive food & drink tasting event held at The Victorian in Santa Monica on July 29 will feature special presentations from Nyesha Arrington (Top Chef) and Eric Greenspan (The Foundry, Mare and The Rooftop on Wilshire), as well as special Appearances from Julie Chang (Good Day LA, FOX) and Shira Lazar (What’s Trending). Tickets also include signature food samplings, cocktails, wine and beer samples from LA’s top restaurants and distributors. All this for the price of $85!

BrunchCon LA

This is the ultimate foodie event! On August 12th and 13th, devour one tasting from each of their 50+ vendors featuring food and drinks from Southern California’s best local restaurants, chefs, food trucks, and stands. And if you’re not already convinced, tickets include UNLIMITED mimosas at one of their six bars with other brunch cocktails for $60!

Smorgasburg LA

Whether you’re an LA resident or just visiting for the weekend or summer, this weekly event is a must for the summertime! Every Sunday, Smorgasburg is open on the five-acre site of the weekday Alameda Produce Market in Downtown Los Angeles. Find dozens of exciting food vendors, plus sophisticated shopping from the realms of design, craft, style, vintage, wellness, and more.

Tropics

If you’re looking for an event with an educational component and great community feel, then this event’s perfect for you! Starting on June 4th, Tropics, an organic juice bar company funded by a Kickstarter campaign with help from Sambazon, will have a three-month installation at Underground Museum. The founders, Daniel Desure and Thomas James, founded the company to provide a healthy option in the Crenshaw neighborhood and impact a wide reaching and diverse public.

MUSIC

Huntington Beach 4th of July Celebration

Still looking for 4th of July plans? Look no further. Huntington Beach’s Annual 4th of July Celebration features a music festival, a 5K run, and the largest Independence Day parade in California.

Fourth of July Block Party

If the beach isn’t your thing on 4th of July, then this event’s perfect for you! Downtown LA’s Grand Park is hosting a block party featuring food trucks, live music, and a day of picnicking. Admission is free.

Our Life Festival

If you love the environment, healthy eating, animal rights and music, this festival is for you! At the Autry Museum of the American West on July 8th, you can enjoy some good tunes with like-minded individuals. Tickets go for $20-$60 and it’s family friendly.

FYF Fest 2017

FYF Fest is an annual three-day music festival held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena & Exposition Park in LA on July 21, 22 & 23. The headliners this year are Missy Elliott, Björk, Frank Ocean and Nine Inch Nails.

Twilight Concerts

Every Thursday night (except for July 6th), the Santa Monica Pier hosts a free outdoor concert during the summer. Featuring artists such as Marcia Giffiths, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Miami Horror, it’s a good way to spend a summer night.

Roaring Nights at the Los Angeles Zoo

Come to the zoo after hours for live bands, DJs, pop-up zoo keeper talks, special animal encounters, L.A.’s favorite food trucks, lawn games and more! Members can get tickets for $17 for adults and $13 for children, or $20 for adults and $15 for children for non-members. It is happening on July 21 and September 15 and you must be over 18 years old to attend.
