This Weekend on the Road to PyeongChang: U.S. Ice Dancers Chock and Bates Make Debut

Figure Skating: Cup of China Grand Prix

The third stop of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating takes place in Beijing at the Cup of China.

Gabrielle Daleman, the 2017 Worlds bronze medalist from Canada, will face 2015 world champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva of Russia in the ladies event. Marin Honda will also compete, after finishing fifth overall last weekend at Skate Canada. The lone U.S. skater in the field, Amber Glenn, was a replacement after Gracie Gold announced her withdrawal.

Vincent Zhou, the U.S. silver medalist, will make his first appearance on the senior Grand Prix circuit. He’ll be joined by teammates Max Aaron (2013 national champion) and Grant Hochstein. Two-time world champ Javier Fernandez will be in the field, alongside two-time Worlds bronze medalist Jin Boyang of China.

In dance, Team USA’s Madison Chock and Evan Bates will make their season debut and face off against 2015 and 2016 world champs Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France.

Reigning pairs world champions Sui Wenjing and Han Cong will compete in front of a home crowd in Beijing.

NBC’s recap show will air Sunday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. ET. All coverage will be streamed live on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports App, plus the Olympic Channel app and Olympicchannel.com.

  • Ladies free skate: 4:30 a.m.
  • Men’s free skate: 6:45 a.m.
  • Pairs free skate: 9 a.m.
