Happy July!
A friend of mine gave me a copy of The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho. While these days I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like, I was able to read a good portion of the book while I was away on vacation this month.
The book is about Paulo’s experiences as he made his way across northern Spain on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela as he searches to reclaim his sword and gain enlightenment. I’m thoroughly enjoying the book. Each chapter has a theme and key lesson that Paulo needs to learn along the path. One of my favorite chapters is about enthusiasm and how to return to one’s naturally enthusiastic state (he learns lessons and the reader learns the same valuable lessons along the way). I love this – I think it’s so important. In some ways enthusiasm is its own type of flow state. And it’s about returning to a child-like way of seeing the world and processing information.
I can think of people in my life that exude this enthusiasm consistently…my trainer at Equinox, Junior Amazan. My singing instructor, Geeta Novotny. My mom…always bringing a spark of joy and positive energy to everything she does.
Enthusiasm is contagious. And it feels good. So let’s bring our best and our enthusiasm to work, relationships and life in general and spread the good energy!
xx
