Behind the Scenes with S&Co
Looking for a new book to read while laying by the pool or soaking up the sun at the beach? We’ve got you covered. Find out the S&Co team’s summer reading recommendations.
Nicole Callas: I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up recently (thanks to Amy Stanton), and it completely changed my perspective on organizing my life. It’s a great read for anyone who wants to declutter their life and brain!
Jessica Hofmann: The last book that I read and loved in Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It’s a science fiction novel that takes place in Los Angeles in the 21st century after a worldwide economic collapse. It may sound intense but the book doesn’t take itself very seriously and I found myself giggling a lot while reading. For those interested in sci-fi, it’s definitely worth a read!
Mikaela Hong: I just read When Life Gives you Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger, which is part of The Devil Wears Prada series. It’s a light read that’s witty, funny, and perfectly captures suburbia motherhood (at least what I imagine it’s like). Definitely recommend!
Kelsey Kearns: I just read The Glass Castle, a memoir by Jeannette Walls and I highly recommend it. I’m now reading Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. I just started, but have heard amazing things, so I’m excited to read it!
Maddie Kim: I’ve been reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F by Mark Manson. It’s really funny but has key takeaways that have helped during my transition from college to the “real world.”
Lauren Nelson: My summer book is See Me by Nicholas Sparks – I’m obsessed with anything by Mr. Sparks.
Lauren Newhouse: I honestly don’t think I’ve read a book as fast as I read The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo. It’s an epic love story that perfectly depicts the sacrifices we make for relationships and our dreams. Kleenex’s highly recommended!
Denege Prudhomme: I have a couple of trips planned this month and look forward to catching up on some reading while traveling! Here are a few books I have on my reading list: The Feminine Revolution by Amy Stanton and Catherine Connors, Member of the Family: My Story of Charles Manson, Life Inside His Cult, and the Darkness That Ended the Sixties by Dianne Lake and Proud: My Fight for an Unlikely American Dream by Ibtihaj Muhammad.
Amy Stanton: Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts introduced me to the culture, beauty and spirituality of India. After reading that book, I felt a deep connection to the country and last year, when I visited for the first time, it was everything I had imagined and experienced through the book and more.
