Behind the Scenes with S&Co
“When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, may luck be yours on Halloween” (Unknown). Halloween is such a fun holiday! When we’re young, we can’t wait to count how many pieces of our favorite candy we get trick-or-treating! As we get older, some of us may have enjoyed being frightened by monsters and zombies. This month, we asked the S&Co team members to share their favorite Halloween memory!
Jessica Hofmann: My favorite Halloween memory to look back on is all the different costumes my mom used to make. She would refuse to pay money at the store for those overpriced costumes because (in her words) she could make one just as nice and even better! One year, my cousin wanted to be a mitten. Yes, like the thing that keeps your hand warm lol. So my mom, never one to back down from a challenge, got the fabric from Joann’s and made her a mitten costume. Definitely one of the sillier costumes she ever crafted!
Mikaela Hong: My favorite Halloween memory when I was younger was going to a party at my friend’s house with everyone in my class and going trick-or-treating together. And, of course, stuffing my face with candy.
Maddie Kim: My favorite Halloween memory was when I volunteered at a haunted house in middle school to lead the groups through the house. I’m easily frightened and don’t enjoy being scared, so I was definitely apprehensive to volunteer! However, it was actually really fun, especially because most of the time I knew what was around the corner (although I did jump a few times from fear).
Olivia Levis: A few years ago all of my friends and I dressed up as zombies and bar-hopped. Not cute zombies (not even sure what that would look like), we looked bloody and gross. We got a lot of looks and scared a few people. We even got denied entry at one of the bars! Regardless, it was a great night.
Lauren Nelson: Trick-or-treating and watching Hocus Pocus every year of course!
Lauren Newhouse: Dumping all of my candy on my bedroom floor and sorting my favorites.
Denege Prudhomme: My favorite Halloween memory, is basically every Halloween as a kid. We use to go trick-or-treating with my cousins and it was always a family affair. I remember one Halloween, my mom forgot to get me a costume, so she threw a sheet over me, cut some holes for eyes and I went as a ghost… #classic.
Amy Stanton: I’ve always loved the plastic pumpkin trick-or-treat buckets!
