From the Founder, November 2018

Happy November!

This is a big month.

First and foremost, midterm elections on November 6th. GET OUT AND VOTE.

Secondly, as I’m sure you’re aware by now, my book is (also) coming out November 6th. Please preorder here!

This is always a busy time of year for our clients (planning for 2019, holiday initiatives, New Year/New You planning). And, with the book launch and all of the exciting things happening with that, I admit, I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’ve literally burst into tears more times in the office this month than I have in the past 5 years combined – granted, I am a big advocate for crying and we even talk about it in our book, but still. I’m a perfectionist and, for obvious reasons, don’t want anything to slip through the cracks. I also feel the need to say yes to everything and operate as if I am unstoppable and can take it all on. But no, that’s not reality. Nor is it possible.

A number of people have told me to get better at saying “no.” Easier said than done. It’s really hard for me, no matter how maxed out I am, to say no and potentially disappoint someone. But that is taking its toll on me. I’m pretty sure that this particular time is the ultimate test… and lesson… to make sure that I start clearing things out and turning things down (or at least pushing them off until I have time/space for them) so that I can be my best.

Ultimately, saying “no” is saying “yes” to something else. That something else could be a new opportunity, new client, more time for myself, more time for my friends/family. As much as I’d like to believe that we can create a time warp and expand our days to fit our commitments, that hasn’t worked for me yet so I’m going for quality and really exploring my personal priorities.

So, that’s my commitment for now – to start saying no. (If I ever say no to you, hopefully you’ll understand!)

Wishing you a fantastic month!

xx

Amy
