It is understood that exercise has huge benefits for physical health, including increased cardiovascular health, bone density, and overall strength. However, research suggests that exercise can have a positive effect on one’s mental health as well! S&Co client Dr. Robert Zembroski, author of Rebuild, explains, “Exercise represents a cost-effective and easily implemented intervention for depression with no real side effects. For instance, data out of Current Behavioral Neuroscience Reports demonstrate that walking showed far greater improvement in depression, anxiety, and stress-related symptoms for those who regularly walked than for those who didn’t.”
