Lauren Perkins attends Summer X Games Promo

July is without a doubt the best month of the year for the industry. Maloof Money Cup, US Open of Surfing, and the beginning of X Games are all going down. The weather is just right and the ladies of summer are out in full force. The perks of this gig is undeniable.

Last week X Games had a pretty rad tickets pre-sale event at LA LIVE with some of its best and brightest coming out to play. They labeled it their Quinciera because they are in fact becoming a Mexican woman. And also because they are turning 15. Sal Masekela brought his locks of love, as did Tony Alva. Brian Deegan, P-Rod, Lyn-Z Adams, Ronnie Faisst, Lauren Perkins, Todd Potter, and Kyle Loza also made appearances. It was a lot of fun and great to catch up with everyone.

The best moment of the day had to be when Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was rappin with Sal up on the world’s largest skateboard. Sal asked the mayor what his favorite event at X Games was, and I’m sure he was just racking his brain trying to choose between rollerblade vert and the street luge when this gem was uttered off his lips; “My favorite event is when the cash register goes cha-ching!” Outstanding sir.

Got a chance to talk to ladies skateboarder Lauren Perkins. And let me just say this girl is a complete delight. She’s super cool and is really focused on podium finishes at Maloof and X. And there is something to be said about pretty girls that shred.
