Behind the Scenes with S&Co
It’s officially Mercury’s second retrograde of 2019 (July 8- August 1) and we’re feeling all of the planetary effects. If you’re not into astrology or don’t live in LA, here’s the scoop: Three or four times a year, planet Mercury is said to go retrograde – that is to say it appears to be moving backward in its orbit. That’s not all- it can have real effects on our everyday lives as all of the aspects governed by Mercury become more challenging. This includes communication, transportation, any sort of travel, thoughts and details. That’s a doozy! In light of these energetic shifts, this month the S&Co team shares its strategies to beat the retrograde blues.
Â
DENEGE: For me as a Leo, Mercury retrograde’s problems comes from a deeply personal and emotional place. Even in my happy place, at home with my fiancé and dogs, I’m still not immune from the fallout. What is helping me get through this cycle is knowing what I truly need deep down, paying attention to that little voice inside my head and knowing my intuition will do it’s best to guide me through the next few weeks. The one thing I’m learning, to accept help where I can get it! I have been doing a lot more prayer and meditation – which has been helpful!Â
OLIVIA: I try to maintain a routine and keep my room clean. Consistency is key to feeling in control.
ALEX: Staying positive and productive is key. There will always be something out of your control, so focus on what you can control!
NELSON: I make sure I get to the gym for a full mind/body cleanse and make a trip to the spa for a therapeutic massage to release all the tension from the retrograde.
LINDSAY: I try to keep a sense of humor about it. This period has been particularly kooky for me and my closest loved ones-it’s humbling!
KARA: I try not make big decisions during any of the retrogrades. It’s a great time to get extra rest, nest, reflect and get quiet.
RENA: For me, it’s a time to reflect and remember that we are such a small piece of the large solar system and beyond. There is something larger out there that we, as a society, have yet to understand, and we should always respect and acknowledge our place among our own environment, other planets, solar systems and galaxies.
