Kelly Clark Takes First in the Third Annual COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational in Snowmass
The World’s Best Women Snowboarders Competed for a Prize of Over $20,000
Kelly Clark took home a prize of $10,000 today, Saturday, April 3, for winning the third annual COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational superpipe competition in Snowmass, Colo. This is the second year in a row that Clark has taken first place in the event. The competition was fierce, with fifteen of the world’s best women snowboarders competing on the new 22-foot Olympic-sized Superpipe in Snowmass.
Final results:
1st – Kelly Clark – $10,000
2nd – Ursina Holler – $4,500
3rd – Soko Yamaoka – $2,000
4th – Paulina Ligocka – $1,000
5th – Gretchen Bleiler- $500
Barbie Style Award (new this year) – Kelly Clark with a double stiffy on her first hit – $2,500
Best Trick – Maddy Schaffrick with a Haakon flip – $150
Highest Air – Kelly Clark – $150
Most Progressive Riding – Maddy Schaffrick – $150
In addition to these awards, all athletes who competed received a portion of the $20,000 prize purse. The competition included a jam session with full superpipe runs.
“I’m really happy with my result today and had a lot of fun while competing,” says Clark. “It’s a progessive format and there’s a lot of great riding and all the girls had a great time.”
The third annual COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational began on Friday, April 2 and will continue through tomorrow, April 4. The event is much more than a superpipe competition with spa activities, yoga, and a Girls’ Night Out at the Belly Up.
“Having the COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational here in Snowmass is awesome, it’s the end of the year and it’s a low pressure environment,” says Bleiler.
“It’s so amazing to bring all the girls together, and staying at the Viceroy in Snowmass is definitely the biggest treat of the this year’s event.”
