Beauty without Borders
For Spring 2013, SpaRitual has released some new pastel nail colors! The SpaRitual Meditate nail lacquer collection is a group of six pretty pastel polishes that are perfect for any spring beauty wardrobe. I’ve been a fan of SpaRitual for quite some time now; they’re so good at incorporating their theme of slow beauty and a spa-like feel into their creative line of nail colors. Following in that tradition, the SpaRitual Meditate nail collection is a refined set of pastels, with a variety of hues and finishes. I had the good fortune to sample the collection recently, and am excited to share colorful review for you to ‘meditate’ on today!
SpaRitual Peace and Harmony is a pristine white polish with a matte finish. The shimmer in the bottle becomes more of a sheen on the nail. I love the pristine, clean effect of this white! SpaRitual Transcend is a pale cream yellow with a matte finish. As with Peace and Harmony, Transcend turns from shimmer to sheen upon application. SpaRitual Quietness is a light peachy nude nail polish with a creme finish.
SpaRitual Calm and Clear is a light, muted rose pink creme. SpaRitual Introspectiveis a light jade green nail polish with a hint of shimmer. The shimmer is barely noticeable when worn. SpaRitual Energy is a robin’s egg blue with a hint of green. The polish is every so slightly muted to keep it feeling zen.
All six colors in the SpaRitual Meditate collection are pastels, which can be tricky to formulate. I found that the polishes were a tad more watery than SpaRitual’s typically impeccable formulation, however they were still smooth and easy to use. Two thicker coats or three thinner coats do the trick. The colors dry down evenly and I don’t find any streakiness in
Pastels shades can be hard to judge, so I felt a color-wheel comparison was necessary for the SpaRitual Meditate collection! Both SpaRitual Peace & Harmony and SpaRitual Marble (reviewed here) are white shimmer nail polishes, however the former has a more matte finish, while the latter has a glossy finish. Peace & Harmony has a lighter, clean look that works well for spring. SpaRitual Transcend is an unusual pale yellow cream; you can see that it’s much lighter and less gold than a gold nail polish like NARS Versailles (reviewed here).SpaRitual Quietness is more peach than your typical nude nail polish; you can see thatSephora by OPI Going Nude Eh? is a little more beige. SpaRitual Calm & Clear is a rosy pink nail polish. It has a similar lightness to NARS Vestale (reviewed here), but is slightly cooler. SpaRitual Calm & Clear is much darker than Sephora by OPI Dear Diary. SpaRitual Introspective is a more intense green than Revlon Minted. SpaRitual Energy has the same color intensity as OPI What’s With the Cattitude?, however you can see it has more green tones. It’s also greener and darker than Essie Mint Candy Apple.
The pretty pastels in the SpaRitual Meditate collection are perfect for spring. (I’ve been wearing the colors non-stop since I got them!) SpaRitual does such a good job of tweaking hues to achieve a relaxing (or perhaps ‘meditative’) finish — even when it comes to unusual colors! The two matte nail polishes, Peace & Harmony and Transcend, were cool and unexpected. Quietness and Calm & Clear are easy to wear additions to any collection. Introspective and Energy are great takes on less traditional colors. Overall, they make a well balanced and unique collection! SpaRitual can be found at Sephora and other beauty retailers.
Thanks for reading! Which of the SpaRitual Meditate collection colors do you like best? What SpaRitual polishes have you tried? What pastel polishes have you been enjoying recently?
