Annie Kunz

Annie Kunz is a 2020 U.S. Olympian and the current world leader, in score (6703), for the women’s heptathlon. Born and raised in Golden, Colorado, Kunz attended Wheat Ridge High School, where she was a three-sport athlete (soccer, track and field and volleyball). She was a 12x Colorado State medalist in track and field (8 gold, 4 silver), two-time state soccer champion and graduated as her class Salutatorian, with a 4.0 GPA. She was a six-time All American, the Freddy Steinmark Award winner in 2011 (lifetime athlete/scholar/community service award), a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in soccer and part of the Colorado Hall of Fame. She was recognized as a four-time Colorado Female Athlete of the year and ranked #3 Colorado Athlete of the Decade, behind Missy Franklin and Christian McCaffrey. She holds the Colorado record in soccer for individual goals scored and was one of four athletes to be on the All-American and Scholar All-American high school team. Annie Kunz attended Texas A&M University on a full-ride athletic scholarship for both soccer and track and field. During her time at A&M, Kunz was an All-American and All-SEC in track and field and All-SEC and Scholar All-American in Soccer. She also served as a co-anchor for TexAgs, the University’s media company. After finishing 8th at the 2016 Olympic Trials, Kunz moved to San Diego, California to become a resident at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, training full time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since then, she was the 2019 Pan American silver medalist, 2020 U.S. Indoor Champion and won the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials, posting the 5th best score all time. Kunz also holds the American shotput record in the heptathlon.
