Konnor McClain – 2022 U.S. All-Around National Champion, Women’s Gymnastics
Konnor McClain is a 17-year-old U.S. all-around champion gymnast from Las Vegas, Nevada. After overcoming turmoil, heartbreak and almost stepping away from gymnastics all together, McClain came back over the summer from two stress fractures, a concussion, the flu and the loss of her father and grandmother, just days apart. In August, wearing a leotard patch with her father’s initials “MC”, McClain fulfilled a promise she once made to him, and took home the U.S. all-around title at the 2022 OOFOS U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Championships. Her thrilling victory established McClain as the sixth gymnast to win the women’s all-around title in her senior nationals debut and confirmed her position as a key member of the 2022-2023 Senior Women’s National Team. McClain discovered her passion for gymnastics at the age of two and by the age four her gymnastics videos went viral. She brought home her first junior all-around title at the 2016 HOPES Championship, quickly moving to claim her first junior international title as the all-around champion at the 2019 Jesolo Trophy in Italy. She shook up the gymnastics world when she took home the bronze medal at the 2021 Winter Cup and continued to dominate as a member of the 2021 World Championships team. McClain made waves at the 2022 Winter Cup as the balance beam and all-around champion, and the floor exercise bronze medalist. She currently holds three all-around, four balance beam, one floor and two team senior champion titles, both national and international, as well as dozens of junior titles across the board. McClain currently has her sights set on the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Post Olympics, she has plans to continue her education at Louisiana State University (LSU) where she will study Fire Science and further her gymnastics career, competing for the Tigers.
