Steph Davis

Climber

Elite climber Steph Davis is known for her dangerous ascents of big walls and alpine peaks. She has continually set new standards in all styles of climbing, from adventure climbing to difficulty level.

Davis has completed the first ascents of major peaks in Pakistan, Patagonia, Kyrgyzstan and Antarctica, in big-wall, solo, free and alpine styles. She is also the first woman to free-climb the 3,300-foot Salathé Wall of El Capitan (35 pitches, 5.13b/c), the face many climbers call the greatest rock climb in the world. Davis has since free-climbed El Capitan twice more, always leading the entire route.

Davis is also an ambassador for Patagonia, involved in product development and featured in their advertising campaigns. In 2007, she published “High Infatuation: A Climber’s Guide to Love and Gravity.” In 2012, Steph took her BASE-jumping skills and created the first commercial tandem BASE-jumping operation with her husband, Mario. Their company, Moab B.A.S.E Adventures, allows tandem jumps from three different spots. Steph debuted her book, Learning to Fly: An Unexpected Love and One Amazing Dog in 2013. The memoir features adventure, transformation, fear, love, letting go, and learning how to fly.
