New Trend Yoga for Foodies?

Imagine you are in your local yoga studio, you’re now relaxed after an hour of downward dog and lotus poses. The peaceful serenity of the room has taken over your mind, when all of a sudden the lights turn on and a chef comes out to serve you a full course dinner including wine, and chocolate for dessert that has been specifically designed to allow the yogis to taste, smell and digest in a heightened state of awareness.

This is a new craze sweeping the nation for people who love yoga and appreciate fine dining. (Although I can’t say how “fine” the dining would be after a rigorous yoga session, and eating off of your sweaty rubber yoga mat doesn’t sound too enticing)!

This whole concept developed when the overlap of thousands of foodies and thousands yogis, all interested in becoming healthy, and caring for a greener planet started to come together, and the outcome was the combination of the two, “Yoga for Foodies”. Some yoga instructors go as far as to sit Indian style breathing deeply as they inhale their butternut squash soup, feeling the energy coming from it. Many of the foods are vegetarian based as the cardinal rule of yoga is meat is forbidden. Sometimes, even an all-vegan, organic, low-carbon-footprint diet is not pure enough: each vegetable must be grown in an atmosphere of positive energy. There are however more relaxed food/yoga atmospheres where wine is served….definitely more my style. This website http://www.yeahdave.com/ is a great site to check out if you are interested in trying this. They hold classes in most major American cities. Who knows it may inspire you!

Do you think this is something you will try… or see more of in the coming years, the combining of food and exercise lifestyles?
